Topology induced first-order phase transitions in lattice quantum gravity

چکیده
Causal Dynamical Triangulations (CDT) is a lattice formulation of quantum gravity, suitable for Monte-Carlo simulations which have been used to study the phase diagram model. It has four phases characterized by different dominant geometries, denoted $A$, $B$, $C$ and $C_b$. In this article we analyse $A-B$ $B-C$ {phase} transitions in case where topology space that three-torus. This completes CDT such spatial topology. We observe order transition spacetime geometries can depend on spacetime.

Quantum first order phase transitions
The scaling theory of critical phenomena has been successfully extended for classical first order transitions even though the correlation length does not diverge in these transitions. In this paper we apply the scaling ideas to quantum first order transitions. The usefulness of this approach is illustrated treating the problems of a superconductor coupled to a gauge field and of a biquadratic H...

متن کاملFluctuation Induced First Order Phase Transitions
We study a U(N) × U(N) symmetric scalar field model in four and three dimensions. First, using our data in four dimensions in the weak coupling region, we demonstrate explicitly that the observed first order phase transition is induced by quantum fluctuations. Next, based on the renormalization group and our new simulation results in three dimensions we argue that even if the UA(1) symmetry is ...
متن کاملWeak First Order Phase Transitions in Quantum Ferroelectrics
We discuss the possibility of weak first order transition in the domain of pressure induced phase transitions in a quantum ferroelectric as a consequence of order parameter fluctuations. We start with a semi-microscopic Hamiltonian, where polarization fluctuations are controlled by hydrostatic pressure via strain coupling, which above certain strength of coupling constant, kills second order tr...
متن کاملFirst order quantum phase transitions in the XX spin chain
Quantum phase transitional behavior of a finite periodic XX spin1 2 chain with nearest neighbor interaction in a uniform transverse field is studied based on the simple exact solutions. It is found that there are [N/2] quantum critical points in the ground state, where N is the periodic number of the system and [x] stands for the integer part of x, when the interaction strength and magnitude of...
